这两年Jolt一直在Design Patterns、Eclipse、Hibernate、Test-Driven、XP几个老主题上转来转去，奖项基本都被它们瓜分了，不过这也显示了当前最主要的开发潮流和关注热点。

在Java方面，奖项反映了当前Java社区的前进方向，在经历了对J2EE技术的反思后，Java社区开始回归一条朴素之路。

通用类图书的大奖被《Head First Design Patterns》拿到。“Head First”系列，与“In Action”系列一样，真正的深入浅出，让人受用无穷，遗憾的是现在还没有走进中国市场。

Jolt大奖每年由读者、评委会和销售商共同提名，再由评委会初选以进行最后的角逐。优胜奖由六部分组成，分别是：语言与应用环境发展；工具与设计的使用；书籍与计算机基础培训；补给程序； 库、框架和组件；专用程序。每个分类设有一个“震撼奖”（Jolt Award）和三个“生产力奖”（Productivity Award）。
